Privacy Policy
Covers the Desk Gremlin apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac · last updated 10 August 2026
The apps collect nothing. No account, no analytics, no advertising, and no server of ours for your data to sit on — none exists.
What stays on your device
Everything you create, and everything the app records, lives on your device: your questions and the answers, notes and drawings, photos you show the camera, check-ins and moods, reminders you write, focus sessions, statistics, and your chosen character. On iPhone and iPad the AI that answers you runs on the device itself, using Apple's on-device model. We never receive any of it, and we could not read it if we wanted to.
The complete list of what can ever leave your device
- Weather. If you tap the weather chip, your approximate location goes to Apple's WeatherKit service to fetch a forecast. To Apple, not to us, and it is not stored.
- Your own iCloud. Notes, activity history, your chosen character, chore schedules, and — only if you switch it on — care data sync between your own devices through your personal iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database). That is your storage, under your Apple Account. We have no access to it.
- Apple Health. The Coach feature reads workouts, distance, heart rate and routes from Apple Health with your permission. Read-only, stays on your device, never uploaded.
- Your own AI key (optional, off by default). If you add a personal API key for Anthropic, OpenAI or Google in Settings, the questions you type in Ask go to that provider under your own key and their privacy policy. The app marks this in red the whole time it is on, and sends only the words you type — never your reminders, notes, calendar, health or care data. Switching it off ends it immediately.
- Purchases. Payment is handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see your payment details — only Apple's anonymous confirmation that a purchase exists.
That is the whole list. If it is not written above, it does not leave your device.
Permissions the apps may ask for
- Notifications — to deliver reminders you wrote and scheduled results you asked for.
- Location (while using the app) — only to fetch weather when you tap for it.
- Camera — only when you use Look; pictures are read on the device and are not uploaded.
- Reminders and Calendar — to show your real lists and tick items off when you say you finished them.
- Apple Health — read-only, for Coach.
- Photos (add only) — to save cards you choose to save. The app cannot view your library.
Each permission is requested only when you first use the feature that needs it, never at launch, and declining any of them leaves the rest of the app working.
This website
The apps have no analytics. This marketing website is a separate thing and does use Google Analytics to count visits, which sets cookies and records standard web data such as your approximate region, browser and the pages you view. That applies to this site only — never to anything inside the apps. Browser-level tracking protection or an ad blocker stops it, and nothing on this site requires you to accept it.
Children
Desk Gremlin does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes its data from your device. Anything synced through your own iCloud can be removed in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage. Because we hold nothing, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version appears here with a new date. Any change that would let data leave your device would be announced inside the app first, in plain language, before it happened.
